Who said Architecture is all about sketching, planning, or 3D visualizing? Well, let me tell you that Architecture was never about only designing on paper and submitting plans on deadlines. It has a vast array of opportunities that one can pursue professionally. Unfortunately, in 5 years of our degree, we have never thought of studying Architecture ‘Out of the Box’.
But here we are with a story of two Architects, who will change the perspective of Architecture with their business idea. Yes! Friss Design Co. is a company run by two best friends Abeeha and Armaghan. So, let us find out about their journey. And how they have managed to change the idea of practicing Architecture in a new shade of light.
Journey Of Friss Design Co. | How It All Started?
Friss Co. is a memory project that was founded in an architectural studio. The idea was to tap into the element of nostalgia which helped in the introduction of the wide range of their scents. Friss came into existence after a simple discussion with friends over afternoon tea. From that day, they started focusing on every detail, the colors, scents, themes, and names.
Their business has led them to look at life in its depth and make them appreciate it even for the smallest of things. Their candles bring a touch of cherish able past into your home, reminding you of your fond memories, and will create new ones to take pleasure in.
Moreover, each of the seven scents they have introduced evokes nostalgia, childhood memories, and the precious love of family. The fragrances of their candles are meticulously described in unique and personal ways.
For instance, Androon Shehar transports one to the Spice Bazaar and the ambiance of the walled city. While Nani Ka Bagh evokes memories of a garden filled with floral scents, surrounded by cacti and succulents. Nostalgia possesses a remarkable ability to forge emotional bonds by prompting recollections of joyful moments. Further, they have endeavored to establish emotional connections within themselves and with their viewers, empowering their customers to cultivate additional positive memories in their lives.
The theme of the cacti candle was based on the association of Armaghan with his grandparents and father’s childhood home. Which was built in the 90s and had an earthy smell combined with the hints of Jasmine and roses. Thus, visually the floral arrangement had a cacti background which now when he thinks of is somehow the warmth he seeks in his mother’s company after a tiring day.
These candles are for the dear ones who left Armaghan too soon. A memorial maybe but it is a sense of their presence in his life.
“May the light of the candle illuminate your life as well and guide you home to the warmth and love you deserve”.

Practicing Architecture| A Little Different Approach By Friss Design Co.
Narrative and architecture intertwine seamlessly in their designs. Each reflects the stories embedded within the walls of our homes. When they first introduced their page to their followers, they reminisced about their childhood home, its garden, and the entrance leading from that garden. These memories continue to shape and inspire Friss. Hence, connecting us to the very heart of their beginnings.
Their vision was to create something that embodies the essence of Pakistani home life. Thus, allowing people, whether near or far, to carry a piece of home with them. Therefore, reflecting on their childhood memories of nature and architecture, they believe these influences gave rise to Friss. Without their deep appreciation for life’s intricate details, none of this would have been achievable.
“My association with my grandparents and my father’s childhood home which was built in the 90’s had the earthy smell combined with the hints of Jasmine and roses. Visually the floral arrangement had a cacti background which now when I think of is somehow the warmth I seek in my mother’s company after a tiring day. These candles are for my dear ones who left me too soon. A memorial maybe but it is a sense of their presence in my life – May the light of the candle illuminate your life as well and guide you home to the warmth and love you deserve”.

Dadi Ki Kahaniyan (Grandmother’s Stories)
My Dadi was an infant and my Nani took her in arms and fled to Pakistan from India. Migration was a major part of her life, both of them were always as warm and welcoming as Pakistan was to her. Dadi’s stories and her presence are all linked with the fragrance of Jasmine as her room always smelled like Motia. This scent reminds me of my grandmothers about their love for one another.
Phool Jhariyan (Crumpling Flowers)
Phool jhariyan is us, the two of us who started this. The sparkle is the spark we had when we first thought about this whole idea. The scent which should be the first smell in the morning of any bedside table. A pair of phool jhariyan made these nostalgic scents, who fell in love with the notes of white tuberose along with the hints of gardenia petals.

That hug is like a delight, a pleasure, a scent and warmth of freshly baked cookies.

Maybe Lahore is meant to be romanticized the alleys, the celebrations, the homeliness, and the glorious aging are what remain the core memory of my beloved.
Nani Ka Bagh (Grandmother’s Garden)
Remember when you were little and used to play in Nani’s (grandmother’s) garden? Well, that’s the memory we tried to include in our scent “Nani ka Bagh”. The warmth, the love and that smuggled money she used to give along with the mischievous hide and seek is all the nostalgia we wanted.
Dastaan (Narrative)
All the love the wilderness and the long lost love stories around the lotus lake. Ah! all the love that surrounds the kanwal ka phool (lotus flower) is how we are introducing a new nostalgia with Dastaan . The hints of lotus and Lily.

“It is not something that happened overnight. It was a process of failures and successes. Took a while to get there but the trust was in the process and I think when the number of successes became more than the number of failures the fearless part overcame the anxious part of me.
For my younger self; It is therapy, I know you are scared but you will enjoy this healing experience. Sometimes it’s hard to let go. So why let go when you can celebrate the bravery and kindness of the past that you are so scared of? You are stronger than you think.”
